Why Choose a Clinical Psychologist?

Our training means that we are not limited to one type of therapy. My approach is integrative, drawing on a wide range of evidence-based models, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), and Compassion-Focused Therapy. Clinical Psychologists are distinct from other therapists in that they receive comprehensive training in the foundations of all major psychological schools before their clinical practice begins. This depth of training enables me to tailor therapeutic interventions to the unique needs and experiences of each individual, ensuring that support is both flexible and effective.

Therapy typically unfolds in three key phases.....

Safer - The first phase focuses on establishing emotional safety through the development of a trusting therapeutic relationship, where clients feel deeply heard and understood. This foundational stage allows for the safe exploration of thoughts, feelings, and experiences without fear of judgment.

Wiser - In the second phase, we move towards understanding the deeper structures that influence patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. This process, known as psychoeducation, brings clarity and insight—often resulting in profound shifts and 'lightbulb moments' as clients begin to see their experiences through a more compassionate and informed lens.

Happier - The third phase of therapy is where understanding is translated into action. With a clearer sense of self and a deeper understanding of past experiences, we work together to implement new ways of approaching life, managing challenges, and interacting with others. This phase is highly practical, focused on real-world change and sustainable growth.

Therapy is entirely flexible and client-led. Some clients find that an initial 3–5 sessions provide the clarity and understanding they need to move forward. Others choose to engage in deeper, longer-term work to address more complex patterns and life experiences. My role is to support you at your pace, with a focus on achieving meaningful and lasting change.
